·         Try to pack things which have multi uses. Such as multi-use tool box or a pocket knife with multiple blades or openers.

·         Avoid duplicate items. Check or re-check the list before packing.

·         If travelling with one more person ask him/her to carry some things and you carry the other things so that together you can use it to make things happen.

·         Travelling with your better half, then I’m pretty sure you both can use same toothpaste and shampoo for few days without any problem.

·         Get your own biker rings as you partner won't share it with you.

·         Don’t bring the clothing you are too attached with, as, if necessary you can throw it away instead of packing it back in your bags.

·         Don’t let the cargo affect your tire pressure, hence get the tire, as well as suspension, checked regarding the weights of the cargo.

·          Remember the ounces, pounds will be managed automatically, i.e. take is of smaller things big things will automatically get managed.

·         Balance the weight of the things equally on both sides.

·         Check before you leave. Here by check, we mean, take a test drive before you leave.

·         A jacket and a raingear is a must on an open road ride.

·         No gaiters or rain gloves. No issues! Plastic bags can replace the gaiters and rubber gloves can do for the rain gloves. A perfect substitute.

Can also keep a hand towel around your neck which will stop the rain water to enter inside your clothes.

No Way Is A Right Way, But No Harm in Knowing the Right Way (Part II)

Till now we have already discussed around four tips and tricks regarding travelling from your brand new Harley Davidson. A quick recap, ride planner, checklist, easy clothes, wear biker rings and pack smartly. Now the other pointers as suggested by the bikers are:

·         If you are planning to take saddlebag or duffle bag on the trip which is no doubt the wisest choice then try to keep your things in the zipper-lock plastic bags. They are easy to manage and also comes in numerous sizes so that you can pack large items in one bag as well. Stay organised and stay relaxed.

·         Nature is unpredictable. The place where it never rains can also experience rain when you are there. Consider the weather forecast but don’t believe on it completely and stay prepared for nature’s test through cold and rain.

·         Now, packing and planning are done. The third important job is to manage the weight of your belongings on the bike. Bikers keep the weight as low as possible, still, there are few things which have weight. Keep the weight towards the tank distributed in equal amount on both sides. As the tank is the main center of gravity in the bike.

·         Every bike has a limit to carrying cargo weights check yours and keep things on the basis of that limit only. Don’t assume.  Many Harley riders also suggest that adjust the tire pressure as well as a suspension based on the weight you are carrying.

·         How about a short trip to the market. Few days before leaving pack your Harley in the exact manner of the trip, get ready along with your gears, biker jewelry and cargo and take a short test drive for few hours and see whether everything is good or you need to make any adjustments.

·         The open road is calling your name, so before saying hi to it. Just do the last check up and i.e. check your headlights is it pointing correctly or the alignment needs to be checked.

If you are a true biker then you will definitely have a love for Harley in any form. “Those freedom jackets are a lot more than leather and stitches.” Similarly, that biker jewellery is a lot more than something sparkly and metallic. They tell the unsaid words and write a complete story which only a biker can understand. However, always remember love is important but responsibilities are important too. And those responsibilities can be fulfilled by following or remembering a certain set of rules. If you have joined the Harley-Davidson family some time back only then you need to understand tricks of travelling which is learnt by the bikers with experience.

·         You are planning a trip with Harley and destination is already decided. Then it will be better to consult the Harley ride planner. The app helps to sort every need of the biker, from gas stations to best roads to food to hotels. You had the destination in mind and this app will guide the rest. Always sketch the complete plan before switching the ignition in start mode.

·         You are going on Harley so it is obvious you can’t take heavy suitcases with you and have to pack light. But how. The bikers made it simple they say create a checklist. Once the checklist is done, bring all the things in front of and remove those which are not necessary and keep the most important ones. And pack. I’m talking about bikes essential only.

·         Easy to wash and dry clothes are best to carry. Even two pair of t-shirts and inners will allow you to spend 10-15 days without any need of more clothes. Clothes are always the least in the priority for a Harley trip. Try that the stuff is made up of synthetic material instead of cotton. Wear your bike accessories such as biker rings, etc. rather than packing them.

Pack the stuff as efficiently as you can so that you have more space in your hand. For example: instead of folding roll your clothes and tuck them in the bag.

If you are a biker then you must be knowing about all the bikes I am going to write here but still, I thought about guiding few new ones who are still in the initial stages of nurturing their bike love. The name of the bike is giving complete justice to its design. It is no doubt as brutal and menacing in looks as the name is telling, that too just because of a crazy idea in the mind of Valter Esposito regarding the bike of none other than Matteo Maresi (head of branding and communication at MV Agusta). If I need to speak more in fewer words for this brutal eye catcher then I will say that Zife has converted the casual Honda into a full fleshed model which will be loved by the Harley lovers. In the face, the bike has twin headlights along with grips of biltwell and Rizoma handlebars. They have kept the tank as it is but has customised the complete tail light of the bike with LED ones.
